How wind turbines
Wind turbines produce electrical energy from kinetic energy using a simple principle: two or three propeller
blades are turned by wind around a rotor. Electricity is then produced by the generator when it spins due to the
rotation of the main shaft that is connected to the rotor.
To maximise the amount of energy that can be converted, a turbine is mounted on a tower that is over 100 feet
high, where the wind is faster and less turbulent.
